We’ve had quite a few “please sit quietly while I read from these handouts” lecturers in the past week – fantastic, brilliant lecturers, I need to add – so I’ve been moving along on my in-class knitting at an alarming rate. They’re not quite done yet – if you squint, you can see the unfinished heel of sock #2 in the background, there.
I’m still not quite sure how I feel about these socks. I find them almost offensively orange-and-pink, and am a little miffed at the pooling. I mean, I love rainbow colours as much as anybody else, but I like to space out my pinks and oranges and reds with cool colours (I have a serious thing for blues and greens and purples) instead of putting them all together, like this yarn seemed prone to do. Also, I’m not going to lie – they are a pain in the ass to photograph.
But then, I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on them, which has honestly shocked me. I assumed that everyone found them eye-searingly bright, but apparently not! These socks aren’t just a warm way to keep my hands busy and my feet warm – evidently, they’re also a lesson in diversity.
