One of these things is not like the other.
I’ve finally – finally – finished the body of my NaKniSweMo sweater, and am starting in on the sleeves. The way this cardigan is constructed, I knit the body and sleeves separately in the round, join them together for the yoke (that is the shoulder-bit of the sweater, non-knitters) and do something interesting and magical that turns it into a sweater. I. . .have not really read that far ahead in the pattern yet, as I prefer to focus on the here and now when I’m working on a big project. And the here and now, in this case, is sleeves.
Well, just one sleeve for now, but whatever. I find it exciting.

I am still knitting away on the body of my sweater, which is always the most tedious part – especially since, despite the fact that I am pretty short, I like my sweaters longer in the body – the goal here is 43 cm/17 inches. I am already at the point in knitting where I am eager to get done because I want to wear this sweater. (This is patently ridiculous, as fall has apparently reversed itself and it is now hovering around 10 degrees in the afternoon, which is too hot for wool, but hopefully global climate changed hasn’t deep-sixed Canadian winters just yet.
Only eighteen more centimetres to go.

More sweater! This photo is from just after I officially hit the part of the body that involves waist shaping, which is about a third of the way up. I love this sweater so far – the cables are all pretty easy to memorize or ”read” from the knitting, so after the initial bout of charting everything out to learn it for my swatch, I haven’t really had to do much referring to cable charts to know what I’m supposed to do next. It is also not the best photography in the world, as I was sort of rushed when I took this photo, but trust me. This sweater is going to be pretty. It looks a little small as is, when I hold it up to myself, but I keep having to remind myself that Cascade 220 expands a lot when it gets washed, and that my swatch worked out just fine. Already, I can’t wait to finish this and wear it around.
