I’ve been feeling pretty burnt-out, creative-things-wise, since finishing my first “class” at the end of January. I have, however, been chugging away at this scarf (possibly during lectures. . .possibly), and it’s getting closer and closer to being done. Following the colour changes is absolutely addictive, and even though I hate 1×1 ribbing, I’m onto my second pair of skeins already.
(This scarf, for the forgetful, is the internet-knitter-famous Noro Striped Scarf. I swear, I have blogged about it before.)

What’s this? Knitting? My god, a MIRACLE.
There is nothing like keeping a blog to make myself really notice when I do certain things, and one of the things I’ve definitely realized is how closely my knitting is tied to being busy. Over the holidays, when I wasn’t doing much of anything, I didn’t really want to knit at all. But since I’ve started back at school, I’m right back at it as much as ever.
This is, of course, the beginning of one of the ubiquitous Noro striped scarves. For the non-knitters – basically, this is done by taking Noro yarn (which has long, gradual colour changes) in two different colourways, and striping them together every two rows. The colours that stripe against each other will gradually change, and if you do it right, it looks really cool. Also, at the end of it, you get a warm winter scarf to wear.

It’s done! It’s done, it’s done, it’s done! (And a good thing, too, because now I can pay even more attention to my NaKniSweMo sweater.) This is, as I predicted, an awfully short scarf – it wraps around my neck exactly one time, enough that I can single-knot it together. (Or hold the ends together with a brooch, if I were the kind of person who owned and wore brooches, but I am not.) The pattern is Cable and Lace Scarf Redux by The Kniterella, which is gorgeous (and I apologize for the snotty Ravelry-only linking, I am too lazy to find a link to the unlocked pattern) and went by very quickly.
I don’t care how short it is, though. It is warm, and unbelievably soft, and I may actually never take it off.
