I’ve been taking a photo a day as part of the Month of Craft Photos project.

Day Seventeen: Last FO You Used

Day Seventeen: Last FO You Used

This is my Idlewood, the way it usually looks just after I’ve finished wearing it – inside-out. I wore it to school that day, and the weather was just right for it.

Day Eighteen: Craft Books

Day Eighteen: Craft Books

My craft book collection has slowly expanded to two shelves, and this is what I keep on the top one.

Day Twenty: Finishing

I realize that, in a fit of enthusiasm/intentional forgetfulness, I managed to skip both Day Sixteen and Day Nineteen. I’ll have to go back and do one of them before the end of the month.

Day Twenty: Finishing

When I saw the prompt for “finishing,” the first thing that came to mind was this sweater. I have had a lovely, relaxing long weekend, and spent a lot of it working away on the sleeves, but I’m in the oh-god-I-want-this-done phase of knitting, right now.

It’s a much more photogenic knit with sleeves on, and looks a lot more like a real sweater!

where i craft and a new skill

Day Fourteen: Where You Craft

I am so, so tempted to pretend that I am one of those people who has a clean house, and is organized, and always crafts in a sweetly-decorated, clutter-free space, like this.

Unfortunately, some of you have actually been to my apartment, where it’s totally obvious that the place I really craft is here.

Day Fourteen: Where You Craft

Before you ask/sorry mom, my desk is always that messy. Usually the project to the left of the computer is knitting; the day I took my photos I was working on embroidery transfers instead.

I tend to craft next to my computer both because I’m a huge nerd, and also because I love to watch movies and TV, especially while I knit (currently on rotation: Warehouse 13, The New Girl, and Xena), and my desktop serves as my television and DVD player most of the time.

I actually really love this photo prompt – I think “where you craft” is a really interesting question to ask people, and I’d be curious to know what the answer is for a lot of my friends.

Day Fifteen: A New Skill

Day Fifteen: A New Skill

I’ve been looking for a way to take up embroidery for a while, now, and while I was traveling, I stopped in at a craft shop and found exactly what I needed to get excited about it: days-of-the-week iron-on transfers.

I bought the transfers and fabric to sew my own tea towels, because clearly it is very, very important that I have one for every day of the week, with a jolly squirrel doing chores on it.

Day Eleven: A WIP

Day Eleven: A WIP

Guys, look! Look how close that is to actually being a completed sweater body! It’s not the cardigan in three weeks I was expecting, but I finished a huge chunk of the knitting for this sweater while I was away for work, which is super exciting. I’m working on the sleeves now, which definitely go faster (78 stitches is WAY fewer than 300), hoping to get this done so I can move on to other things.

Day Twelve: A Crafty Gift

Day Twelve: A Crafty Gift

Socks that Laura gave me for my birthday last year. The gift of handknit socks is a truly excellent one, and I love these (and wear them) an awful lot.

Day Thirteen: Inspiration Indoors

Day 13: Inspiration Indoors

For this, I took a photo of my project notebook. I am a person who always has a notebook with them (usually one of these), and I tend to go through a new one every few months or so. Because of this, I have a separate one that I use to keep track of my crafting projects and ideas.

It’s got graph paper inside to make charting/sketching easier, and is nice to have because I have something I can go back to when I want to recall ideas I had, or exactly what I did with a particular sweater size modification, or what my gauge was for something.
