I probably could have posted these in my last entry, but I wanted to split this project up into a couple of posts – this is the finished wallet. Sewn by hand, which – okay, took a lot longer than it would have if I owned a machine, but this still went surprisingly quickly. I finished this easily in a day.

All things considered, I’m really, really, really proud of this. I mean, all of the seams are a bit not-in-a-straight-line and the edges aren’t perfect, but it makes me happy and it does what it’s supposed to do (hold stuff and fit in my pocket) and the chicken fabric is still cute, so whatever. Besides, I think the wonky seams add character.

Oh man. It’s been freaking forever, I know, and I have a whole bunch of really super excuses, but they’re not that interesting. Basically: life caught up with me, I haven’t been crafting, such is the way of the universe. I’ll see what I can do about that in the future.
Anyway, I did ultimately sew something (you will recall, I bought some fabric). This is another very very practical project (as in “sewing something for a specific purpose” – there are much more practical things to do with my time than handsewing, I am positive) – a little mini-wallet for cards-and-bills. Really, the only reason I’d ever use this is for times when I want to go to bars and don’t want to take a purse with me, which is. . .not often, admittedly. But whatever, it’s cute.
I worked out the pattern myself, after staring at these amazing wallets on Craftster for a half hour or so, and since I had a bit of time on my hands that day, it sort of. . .came together.

Spring has sprung, and now that it has I’m feeling more like I want to be creative again. I’ve been working through a patch of srs bzns academic burnout, which is fine – but it means I’m spending more of my “down” time sleeping and reading gossip blogs than I am making things. Such is life.
Lately, though, I’ve been thinking about sewing. I have been using this bag as a pencil case all year, mostly because I was so proud of it I had to use it for something, but it’s actually not wide enough for my pens (they fit diagonally) and doesn’t hold as much as I’d like. So the other day, I went for a walk down to MacFab, where I picked up some things:

Which, hopefully, I’ll turn into a new pencil case (or two) for myself over the next few days, now that I’m on spring break. Oh, also? I have a kitten. Her name is Vesper, and she is the fluffiest kitty oh my gosh ever.
