We had our first snow of the year, the other day.
Since I love winter more than pretty much any other season (ice skating! Hot chocolate! Warm woolen mittens! Snow! Lights! Holidays!), I basically walked around all day saying, “GUESS WHAT? IT’S SNOWING, ISN’T THAT THE GREATEST?” It was awesome.
The photos are a little dark, but that’s actually how they’re supposed to be – I took them around sunrise, just before I left the house for school.

This is not crafty, but I am very very excited about it, so I thought I’d share. I took a trip yesterday to The Happiest Place On Earth: Canadian Tire.
My love for this store is true and unironic and totally unreasonable. I’m pretty sure that 99% of it actually comes from the Canadian Tire Guy ads a few years ago (I was, I think, the only Canadian to be devastated when they got rid of him), but to be honest, it is a surprisingly useful place. If you need something totally outrageous and random, odds are, Canadian Tire will not only have it, but it’ll be on sale.
Case in point? My latest purchase, which hopefully will stick with me for a while: solar-powered Christmas lights. Only at Canadian Tire would those ever even exist.

Okay. So, technically I didn’t so much make this pie as I did sit around the kitchen making polite conversation while my mother made it. But I did offer to make it. And I think that’s half the battle, anyway.
Recipe from Ye Olde Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book, which isn’t exactly the fanciest cookbook ever written, but gets the job done if you want to make any of the old-fashioned basics.
If you’re awesome enough to be Canadian this weekend, Happy Thanksgiving. If you’re American, don’t worry – you’ll get your turn to have Thanksgiving soon.
