More from our trip to the St Lawrence Market this weekend. Because it’s winter, a lot of the produce is gone, but there is still an absolutely vast amount of meat and cheese to choose from. As we all know, good quality cheese is my Kryptonite, but I tried to restrain myself – I just bought one, a smoked cheddar that I’ve tried and enjoyed in the past.
Then we went for a bit of a walk home, instead of taking the subway back. Past Old City Hall:

Where I got myself something delicious and truly Canadian: poutine. The greatest food the universe has to offer.

My favourite cheese, like, ever. It’s a raw sheep’s milk cheese called Etorki, and I love it more than possibly any other cheese I’ve tasted. (I am a bit of a cheese snob – I spent a horrible summer working in a grocery store deli, which gave me an appreciation for the fact that there are so many cool kinds of cheese besides “cheddar” and “mozarella,” and it sort of went downhill from there.)
I finally swallowed my cheapness and bought a hundred grams from the ridiculously fancypants grocery store down the way, and my god, it was so worth it. Nom.

The most half-assed, non-breakfasty weekend breakfast ever: cheese, crackers, and an apple. Posted on the internet because traveling across the country for the Thanksgiving long weekend has made me sleepy, and I don’t really feel like writing up a longer post. Also, it was delicious.
