Dudes. My saddle-shoulder cardigan? Is saddled. It is yoked. It is any other adding-gear-to-beasts-of-burden term you can possibly think of. It is DONE.
Well, okay, it’s not done. It is sort of done, in the sense that all I have to do to finish it is a) learn to crochet, b) crochet the steeks, c) cut the steeks, and d) pick up and knit the button bands. Oh, and then e) buy and sew on some buttons. But WHATEVER that is basically done. And the bulk of the knitting is done, which is the really important part. I’ll just be here, resting my laurels, until I get a chance to go down to the store and pick up a crochet hook. It feels good.

You guys have no idea how much self-control it took to not title this post “suck it, universe.” I am sort-of mostly almost done-ish! This sweater, as you probably don’t recall, involves a series of steps:
1. Knit the body.
2. Knit the first sleeve.
3. Knit the other sleeve.
4. Knit the yoke.
5. Steek.
6. Knit the button bands and collar.
And, as these pictures indicate, I have totally done the first three steps. These are the ones with all the jillions of stitches, and the infinite sheepsfold cable repeats (which I kind of love, but that’s not going to stop me from complaining about how arduous it was during my moment of near-achievement.) and most of the work. I may not actually get to steeking this sweater before NaKniSweMo officially closes, but if I can get to the steek by then, I think I’ll feel like I’ve finished, anyway.

As if a week could go by without another progress report on my NaKniSweMo. I have officially achieved one entire sleeve. (People keep saying stuff like “ooh, sleeves go so quickly!” This is a bunch of dirty lies. They go quickly relative to the sweater body, but not quickly in general. This is a difficult concept to get my head around.) That’s one out of two finished sleeves, which means I still need to knit Sleeve 2 and the yoke and then steek it and pick up the button band, and. . .basically, I am half-resigned to not finishing it exactly in November. That is no longer the point.
The point is, the weather outside is frightful, and I’d like something warm and sheepy and cable-y to keep me warm, like, yesterday.
(Well. The point is also that there are lots of other awesome things I want to knit and can’t start until I finish this sweater, but that is a post for another day.)
