Of course, just because I’m sparing you the cast-on row photos, doesn’t mean I’m not going to post about any of my progress. The Ms Marigold vest, down to the bust. I’m knitting it with a fair bit of negative ease, on 4.00mm needles instead of the recommended 3.75mm (apparently I have started knitting very tightly. Oops?). And now that I’m down to the bit where all I have to do is come up with ten inches of stockinette, I am practically giddy for as much mindless knitting as I can manage.

Knitting has begun.

Knitting actually began last weekend, over several colourful days and evenings, but I’ve only managed to find time to photograph it recently, so you all get to be spared the giddy HERE IS MY CAST-ON ROW, I PROMISE IT WILL BE A SHIRT progress pictures. (Although, speaking of my cast-on row – I had to do branch away from my beloved long-tail cast on for the first time in ages to knit this sweater, and started it with a cable cast-on instead. It was a nerve-wracking experience.)

This is also a much more colour-true photo of the yarn – it’s a little deeper and a little purpler than even this photo, but not by much.

This photo is almost comically not-colour-true (the yarn is a really deep plum in real life), but I needed to share anyways. This is Berocco Ultra Alpaca (50% sheep, 50% alpaca), and it’s going to get turned into a sweater-vest very, very soon. It’s actually going to be this sweater-vest, and I’m very excited. I have this whole thing where I’d really like to be able to knit stuff that I can wear in a professional-ish setting without looking like the crazy girl who knits her own outfits, so this is going to be a bit of an experiment. Given the number of sweaters and cardigans and vests I added to my Ravelry queue while I tracked down this pattern, I’m hoping it works out.
